Season finale for Cairns Speedway, and it just happened to fall on Halloween. Gave us the chance to hand out a few goodies to the kids around the place.
The Halloween spirits weren't kind to everyone - there were a few cars that got kinda disorderly, especially with wheels coming off or flat tyres.
Have to make mention of one event - the F500 Feature, which saw some of the closest racing ever at the Speedway between Luke Dougherty and Glen Underwood, with Luke coming out on top by a bit over a second having spent most of the race side by side. Glen set the fastest lap, but it's amazing how wide an F500 can be!
Shoutout too to Jacob Mollenoyux. Sold his Junior Sedan and everyone wondered what he would show up in next. Answer: the NQ51 sprintcar. Quite a step up!
That's it now, just the Presentation Dinner early December, then nothing until 5th June 2027. Of course, that's assuming no-one does any work on the precinct... Work will continue basically non stop, and if you think you can help, please give us a shout!
