There was Thunder in the Canefields - the kind that rattles your teeth and makes you wonder how the drivers manage to keep on the track.
The final night of Thunder 2026 was pretty near perfect. It was nowhere near as chaotic as any of the three previous nights as there was no weather to chase.
The start of the night saw a tribute to our respected competitor, marshal, scrutineer and all-round good guy Gary Finglas, who passed away after a long illness.
The Thunder Champion for 2026 is local driver Darren Mollenoyux, driving the NQ51 Sprintcar with Ryan Farrell from Western Australia in second and local Gwesyn Dalliston taking out third place. The final race was slightly different, with Darren followed home by Ryan and another local, John Magro.
