Cairns Dolphins & Marlins v Darwin Salties 3/5/24
3/5/24The Salties came to town with revenge on their minds after we beat them on their home ground in Round 1. Unfortunately for us, they got it, with comfortable wins in both games.
For the Dolphins, opposing teams need to remember not to get between Leichan and the basket, as her 28 point 9 rebound 3 assist haul proved, definitely the team MVP for the evening. Also welcome to the Dolphins Samantha Keltos, from Canada, whose clearance to play was received shortly before the game
In the Marlins, the Stattmann brothers were at it again with a combined 29 points and 5 rebounds, Kian Dennis and Jaylen Pitman expertly backing them up. The Salties addition of Sean MacDonald certainly made life more than difficult, but it was good to see Curt and Deba going at each, just as they have for the last decade or so!
Two away games next, then back home to meet Townsville on 18th May.
